KATHY STEPHENSON

Kathy began ringing handbells fifteen years ago at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church where she also sings in the choir. She has been a member of the Brookhaven Handbell Ensemble as well and is thrilled to join Cast of Bronze.

Kathy received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Baylor University and a Mast of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Trinity University. She is currently a homemaker who enjoys reading, needlepoint, traveling and being active with her church and family. She lives in Keller, TX, with her husband, Greg, and their son, Travis.

LYNN DUHON

As a senior in high school, Lynn began ringing handbells.  She did not take up the art consistently until 1988, but has been hooked ever since.  She joined Cast of Bronze during their inaugural season and is very grateful to be a member of such a talented group of musicians.

Besides being a member of Cast of Bronze, Lynn is also a member of the Elliott Handbell Ensemble at Highland Park Presbyterian Church and a frequent substitute at her home church, First Presbyterian of Richardson.

Lynn has been a member of many area handbell choirs including Sounds of Change, Brookhaven Handbell Ensemble and Concert Bells of Fort Worth.  She has also been to many area and national festivals and clinics including the National Seminar in 2005 and Pinnacle 2004 where she was a member of Hart Morris' all-star choir.

Lynn has a BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University.  She lives in Mesquite with her husband Charles and their daughter Jasmine.

GAYLE NABORS

Gayle has been ringing handbells for more than 30 years. The love of ringing is something that goes hand in hand with being a member of the Nabors family. Growing up, her parents were both heavily involved in music and teaching music and this is where she gained her love and interest in music. Gayle is married to Chris Nabors, director and founder of Cast of Bronze. Gayle and Chris have two adult children, Ryan & Brittany. Gayle and Chris are active members of Northway Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dallas, Texas.

BECCA SMITH

Becca was introduced to handbell ringing by Chris Nabors approximately 25 years ago. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas and special education certification at Texas Womans University.  Becca was a middle school band director in the Lewisville school district for 16 years.  She also taught special education for 2 years.  She and her husband Steve have two beautiful children, Collin 6 and Stephanie 4.  Becca now enjoys being a stay at home mom and teaching at a preschool part-time.

CAROLYN SHINN


Carolyn has been a member of the Chancel Handbell Choir of Central Christian Church for 35 years and toured with them in the eastern United States, Hawaii and New Zealand. She also plays solo bells, having performed twice in the Meyerson Symphony Center and toured throughout the United States.


Carolyn enjoys crafts, scrapbooking, photography, travel, cooking, designing and making costumes for her church's Westside Players group and especially entertaining her two grandsons.

SHERRY JOHNSTON

Sherry began ringing bells in 1982 at First Christian Church in Kilgore, Texas. Except for a couple of short breaks, she has been ringing continually since that time. She is pleased to be ringing with Cast of Bronze under the direction of Chris Nabors since most of her ringing years have been under the creative dictatorship (just kidding!) leadership.

Sherry is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She is the wife of David, mother of Erin and Scott, and the proud grandmother of Kaitlin, Harrison, and Kennedy.  She and her family are active in the life of Northway Christian Church, Dallas, where they have been members since 1991.

Sandy Wilson

Sandy began ringing handbells at the age of nine at her home church in Livonia, MI. She continued ringing throughout high school and college, participating in local and national AGEHR festivals. While attending Michigan State University, Sandy rang with and directed the MSU Ringers. She was also on staff as director of handbells at Westminster Presbyterian and Pilgrim Congregational churches in Lansing, MI. Following college, she has lived in Texas, Illinois, and Ohio,  and has always been fortunate to have rung with excellent choirs. Sandy has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from MSU and currently teaches in the Plano Independent School District.

CARLA GIESE

Carla began ringing handbells in 1993 at Northway Christian Church under the direction and patience of Chris Nabors.  She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Tech University and is the President of Ivey Lumber Sales, her family's business, which she has managed for the past 25 years.  She is also serving as the Childcare Coordinator at Northway Christian Church in Dallas.  Carla has three children, Pamela, Patrick and Matthew.

STACEY NABORS HENLEY

Stacey grew up with bells in her hands in the Nabors family. She officially began ringing in Northway Christian Church’s junior high group when she was only in the fifth grade and attended the AGEHR National Festival at Tempe, Arizona. While she was in Southeast Asia with her missionary family she rang solos in Japan accompanied by the high school youth bell choir from a Baptist School in Tokyo.

Back in the states, she was a part of the touring youth handbell choirs of Memorial Drive Christian Church in Houston and a soloist in the church.

In college Stacey directed handbells at South Hills Christian Church; She rang in her father’s bell choir at First Christian Church, Richardson, and later in her brother’s choirs in Richardson. She continues to ring solos for worship, funerals and weddings.

Stacey and her husband, Robert, live in Fort Worth, Texas with their three children: Avery, also a bell soloist beginning at age 8, Bobby, and Blair have also performed on bells with their family.

MARILYN WOODRUFF

Marilyn Woodruff has been ringing handbells for most of her life. She began ringing in the handbell choir at her home church in Watonga, Oklahoma, in fifth grade. Since then, she has rung in and directed many church handbell ensembles, and was the founding director of Oklahoma City’s first advanced community handbell ensemble, Bronze Tapestry , in 2008.  Since moving to Texas, Marilyn has become active in several musical ensembles including Elliott Handbell Ensemble (Highland Park Presbyterian Church), Plano Community Band, and Plano Clarinet Choir. 

Marilyn received her bachelor’s degree in music education and music performance at the University of Oklahoma and earned her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. She currently works at Dell Perot Systems and teaches clarinet and piano lessons when not ringing.

MARK GEARNER

As a youth Mark was introduced to handbells by Dr. Oran R. Nabors and played in Northway Christian Church youth choirs attending several national handbell festivals.  Mark is a past member of the Northway Christian Church Jubilate Handbell Ensemble under the direction of Chris Nabors.


Mark studied finance and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

MIKE JACKSON

Mike started playing handbells 13 years ago in the handbell choir at First United Methodist Church in Grove, Oklahoma.  He has played in many church choirs since then, and also has played in the Bronze Tapestry community bell choir in Oklahoma City.  He currently plays in the Elliott Handbell Ensemble at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas.  Playing in Cast of Bronze with so many highly skilled and talented handbell musicians is by far the most fun he’s ever had playing handbells.

Mike is a Family Physician in a busy office in Rockwall, TX. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and of the Saint Joseph Family Medicine Residency in Wichita, KS.

JOHN DYSART

John has been ringing handbells since 1989 when he was introduced to the medium by Becca Smith. He has served as organist and interim organist at several Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Texas and Oklahoma and enjoys accompanying groups and solo performers.

He currently works in billing, coding, and insurance information for an urgent care medical practice.

JEREMY SPRINGER

Jeremy Springer was first introduced to bells at church when he was eight years old. In the last eighteen years, Jeremy has rung with many church choirs throughout Oklahoma and Texas and was  founding member of an Oklahoma City based community ensemble. His favorite bell moment was ringing with several choirs at Walt Disney World while training there.

Jeremy currently resides in central Oklahoma where he works as a payroll specialist and accounting clerk.

JOSH NEWTON

Josh began ringing handbells in the third grade at Ridgeview Presbyterian Church (Farmers Branch) and continued to ring there through high school. While in college, he rang at University Presbyterian Church (Austin) for four years. A year after returning to Dallas, Josh began ringing with Cast of Bronze.

Josh earned a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently a high school calculus teacher for the Dallas Independent School District.
